Somali Police force commissioner welcome 16 cadet officers trained in Uganda Mogadishu-July, 3rd 2012 (Tuesday): The Somali Police Commissioner (Maj.Gen. DR. Sherif Shekhuna Maye) who presided over the ceremony in his keynote address, welcomes 16 Somali Police officers including one female from Uganda and also congratulated them for their successful completion of 24 month course as cadet officers, he reiterated that the SPF has a critical task to protect the lives of civilians and maintain law and order across the country. He stated that from 2005 to 2012 the Ugandan Government has assisted in training a total of 953 SPF officers in various disciplines of Policing and also thanked the government in assisting SPF build their capacity. The Director Human relations department (HRD) of Uganda Police Force Commissioner of Police (CP) Mr. Ndyomugyenyi Felix, who led the 16 cadet officers to Somalia in his reaction, stated that the Ugandan government enjoys the good working relationship with the Somali Police Force (SPF) and that the training programme is earmarked to develop and enhance the knowledge of SPF to effectively perform their duties in newly liberated arrears. The cadet officers who were trained at the Uganda Police training school (Masindi) were taken through the following modules; Police role and procedures, Skills of use of arms, Community Policing, Constitution and good governance, Human rights and customer care, Information communication technology (ICT), Management, self-defense, Kiswahili and English languages. Also accompanying the Director HRD Uganda Police force was the AMISOM Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Benson Oyo-Nyeko and some members of AMISOM Police team.
